Frozen columns and a page-width fix on the items table

Turning on enough columns to outgrow the screen no longer widens the whole page - only the table scrolls sideways, and the page's own buttons stay put. On a laptop, the checkbox, photo and chemical name columns now stay visible while you scroll; on a phone, where there is less room to spare, all columns scroll normally.
